Toronto Artist Residency at Graven Feather

By | 2015 | No Comments

A central focus during my Graven Feather Artist Residency was creating the Woodswomen print series. Inspired by fairly insular illustrations found in topographic maps, canoe and climbing guidebooks, it became important for me to create images of strong females engaged in wilderness activities.  This involved rendering my drawings in ink, scanning and editing in adobe illustrator, getting the images made in polymer, sourcing and cutting maple veneer, and printing on the letterpress and proofing press at Graven Feather. Acrylic paint details were added both before and after the printing stage.
