Wolf Lake Project Research Trip Video by Canadian artist Sarah Carlson

Wolf Lake Project Research Trip

By | 2013 | No Comments

Research is critical for the artistic process. I will be creating a painting series inspired by my time in the beautiful, and endangered ecosystem of Wolf Lake. This video features photographs and sketches from the autumn visit, and will serve as a jumping off point for my Wolf Lake Project painting series.

Wolf Lake is in the middle of the world’s largest contiguous ancient red pine forest, of which only 1.2% remain of their former extent. While in 1999, the government of Ontario committed to protect the Wolf Lake pine forest, mining claims and leases surround the lake, and have recently been renewed for the next 21 year term.
